KANNAWIDAN

Everybody in the house talks about it

People set their dates to go and see it.

It is KANNAWIDAN.

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is the time for the Ilocanos to show what they’ve got. It showcases the North’s culture especially to the host province—Ilocos Sur. Thus, it portrays the province’s history way back 1570s. This feast focused most on the Industrial and Agricultural living of the northern people. In here, we can see the lively gardens, products of the municipalities who joined, artworks created from indigenous materials, furniture, sculptures, and many more.

As years pass by, the government of Ilocos Sur has put greater efforts in celebrating the Kannawidan; and for this year, they thought of recreation activities during the night wherein tourists and even Ilocanos can enjoy, such as live bands, exhibit of Philippine folk dances, etc.

Spectacle of the Ilocanos’ nobility is Kannawidan. So, let us support it together with its goals.

Change:It Starts With Me

Change.

One syllabled. But not actually a word.

It is a will.

Change is an unending cycle in man’s life and to be able to uphold it, we must make the best out of it. It is that one and only thing that constantly occurs on every creature. We cannot go past through it. We cannot escape from it.

As we go through years, we could merely observe the hunger of this world for progress. People obviously discover innovative things rapidly; thus, discovering blades of living for us. This technology requires a lot. Of course, from its surroundings; we’re a part of it. It requires a sense of responsibility.

We are all leaders who this country needs to survive from the national crises. Leadership is a duty we need to fulfill to meet the challenge for difference. It requires action and discipline – such easy words to say but hard to sustain and comprehend. If we really want to experience progress, we should start leading within ourselves.

We should be taught not to wait for an inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. Our actions speak of what we truly are, if we are worth something. Position is irrelevant without us in action which will strengthen the true essence of leadership.

Discipline on the otherhand matters profoundly for it triggers a new well-being. It brings one’s self to a frame of mind and proper energy to accomplish things that require hardwork.

We should open our eyes and save ourselves from the waves of a destroyed future. We have to change, not only in our words but also in our deeds. After it, we’re ready to spread the disease everyone has been waiting for—a disease for good and progress.

JANUARY 25

Preparations.
Waking up that early ruined my whole day. Honestly. I have to rush everything. My attire. For I am going to attend the Vigan City Fiesta Parade as the Corps Executive Officer of the Citizenship Advancement Training-I Unit of Ilocos Sur National High School. Standing proud. Marching Smart. Close fist. Tiger Look. Chin up.
Sweat covered my senses. It's not actually the first time I represent the school but I feel new. At the same time exhausted. That was the most tiring ever. I feel like I'm going to collapse. I'm nearing to shout for medics! But I now I shouldn't. It's Vigan City Fiesta. A time for all Bigueños. Not a time for me.

Well, with these sacrifices, I feel honored. I had the chance to show them what I've got. Thus, I made the happiness complete. In the end of the parade, I felt like showered with success.
Happy Fiesta fellow Bigueños!
